What we check before listing a professional, what our badges mean, and what they do not guarantee
Seek & Find Investigation is a directory of investigation professionals. You browse the profiles and contact the provider of your choice directly: we do not choose for you and we are not involved in the assignment.
Our work happens upstream: we only list a professional after checking that they operate within a legal framework. This page describes that verification.
The professional fills in the registration form: identity, business, registration number (NEQ, SIRET…), specialties and area of operation.
We check public registers (Quebec enterprise register, the French SIRENE directory…) that the business exists, is active and matches the declared identity. If needed, we ask for a registration extract. Lack of a registered business is the most common reason for rejection.
Using open sources, we cross-check the applicant's background, website and professional presence against the specialties they wish to display.
For this specialty only, we require a licence from the Bureau de la sécurité privée (Quebec) or a CNAPS professional card (France), which we check in the CNAPS public directory and in the BSP public register. In other countries, we ask the professional for proof.
We ask every provider for their certificate and read it: policyholder, covered activity, validity date. Only a certificate we have actually checked earns the “+ Liability insurance” badge.
The profile is published with the matching badge. Expired insurance means losing the “+ Liability insurance” badge, and a profile can be suspended or removed following a report.
Business legally registered and identity checked against public registers; profile consistent with the specialties shown.
In addition, a professional liability insurance certificate read by us and currently valid.
The provider states that they are insured or taking out insurance; the certificate has not yet been checked. Provisional listing.
Private investigation licence application submitted but not yet checked by us.
No. Seek & Find is a directory: you browse the profiles and contact the professional of your choice directly. We are not involved in the selection, the negotiation or the assignment itself.
That we have checked that the business legally exists (registration of the company or self-employed worker), that the declared identity matches public registers, and that the specialties shown match the professional's profile.
On top of the basic verification, we have read the provider's professional liability insurance certificate: policyholder, covered activity and validity date. The badge is removed once the expiry date has passed without a new certificate.
The provider has stated that they are insured or in the process of taking out insurance, but we have not yet received or checked their certificate. Their profile is listed provisionally; take this into account and, if needed, ask them for the certificate.
Private investigation is a regulated activity: a licence from the Bureau de la sécurité privée (BSP) in Quebec, approval from the CNAPS in France. We require it for the “Private investigation” specialty. We check this licence in the CNAPS public directory (France) and in the BSP public register (Quebec). A “Licence being validated” notice flags a file we have not yet been able to check.
OSINT, due diligence, background checks, genealogy, competitive intelligence, digital forensics, fraud and compliance, country risk and security are not subject to a specific licence. For these, we require a registered business and professional liability insurance. When a professional displays a certification (court-appointed expert, CFE, CAMS…), ask them for proof.
No. Verification covers the provider's legal and administrative standing at the time of the check, not the quality of their work or the outcome of an assignment. The contract is made directly between you and the professional.
Not for now. Public reviews raise issues of fake reviews and fairness that we cannot yet handle properly. If an experience with a provider from the directory went badly, write to us: we can review, suspend or remove their profile.
Each professional sets their own rates. The service pages give indicative market ranges; always ask for a written quote before starting.
Yes, it is free for clients, with no sign-up and no tracking cookies.
Fill in the “Become a provider” form (in French) with your business number (NEQ, SIRET…) and your specialties. Have your professional liability insurance certificate ready and, for private investigation, your BSP licence or CNAPS card. An incomplete application is not rejected for good: you can come back once you have the documents.
Write to us using the contact form. A provider can also request the removal of their own profile at any time from the “Request removal” page.
Browse the directory and contact the expert who fits your needs directly.
